Cancer Screening: Evidence-Based Use of PSA and the Appropriate Role of Tumour Markers
This Continuing Medical Education (CME) session explored the evidence-based use of
prostate-specific antigen (PSA) and tumour markers in cancer screening and management.
Participants examined current guideline recommendations, the appropriate interpretation of
PSA and tumour marker results, and their role in supporting accurate diagnosis, treatment
planning, and patient follow-up.
The discussions reinforced the importance of using these biomarkers alongside clinical
assessment, imaging, and histopathology to improve decision-making and patient outcomes,
while avoiding unnecessary investigations and treatment.
