The Botswana Surgical Society brings together surgeons with expertise across multiple disciplines. Through our programmes and outreach initiatives, we improve access to specialist surgical knowledge and support comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care — particularly where specialist services may not always be readily available.
Comprehensive care for conditions of the abdomen, gastrointestinal system, breast and soft tissues — including emergency surgery, hernia repair, biopsies and excision procedures. A cornerstone of every outreach.
Comprehensive care of the musculoskeletal system, including the diagnosis and treatment of fractures, joint disease, sports injuries, spinal disorders, congenital conditions and musculoskeletal trauma to restore function and mobility.
Specialist surgical care for infants, children and adolescents — congenital conditions, childhood surgical disorders, paediatric emergencies, and assessment and referral support.
Assessment and management of conditions affecting the brain, spine and nervous system, supporting improved care for complex neurological surgical cases.
Specialised management of soft-tissue conditions, reconstruction and wound care — including skin and tissue procedures and reconstructive surgical support.
Provides specialist care for conditions affecting the ears, nose, throat, head, and neck, including chronic ear infections, sinus disease, tonsil disorders, hearing problems, and neck swellings. Patients requiring advanced care are referred for further treatment.
Offers specialist assessment and management of diseases affecting the heart, lungs, chest, and major blood vessels. Outreach services focus on consultations, patient evaluation, and referral for complex cardiothoracic procedures.
Diagnoses and treats conditions affecting the arteries and veins, including peripheral arterial disease, varicose veins, diabetic foot complications, chronic wounds, and vascular injuries, helping prevent serious complications through early intervention.
Provides diagnosis and treatment for conditions affecting the urinary tract and male reproductive system, including enlarged prostate, kidney stones, urinary tract disorders, and urological cancers, with referral for advanced surgical care when needed.
